HUMBOLDT — Brandon Weide has not had a “good luck” season on the race track. Weide persevered through mechanical woes, flat tires and the like throughout the season at Humboldt Speedway.
Even Friday after finishing fourth in his heat race, Weide kept charging. Going to the top of the Speedway track, Weide ran it close to the walls and found a way to win his first factory stock feature race of the season.
Jeremy Wilson, who has dominated the factory division all season, ended second, followed by Brandon Tindle. Derrek Wilson ran fourth and Derek Yocham took fifth.
The vintage cars were back again at the Speedway. Jack Simmons used a late-race charge to claim the victory. Travis Moyer, Chris Herndon, Joe Martin and Alan Broers rounded out the top five in the division’s feature race.
Jess Folk Jr. notched another win in the USRA modified feature race. Folk had to fend off Scott Daniels, then his brother, Justin Folk, to take the checkered flag. Justin Folk finished second and Daniels was third. Running fourth was Chris Morgan, followed by Terry Beckham II.
Jeremy Willard drove his car to another strong first-place finish in the pure stock class. Tyler Kidwell took the runner-up spot followed by Levi Phillips, Derek Michael and Dennis Aiello.
Tim Van Gotten used a wire-to-wire run to make it back to the winner’s circle in the B-Mod feature race. Jeremy Chambers placed second and Levi McGowen was third. Nathan Schmidt took fourth and Dalton Kirk was fifth.
Racing will be Friday and Saturday nights this week at Humboldt Speedway. Saturday is a make-up date from an early season rainout.
Gates open at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m. Friday is autograph night when youngsters get to meet the drivers at intermission.
